Open ModelSphere 3.2 or higher on Windows * (zip file)
- Make sure that you have a Java Virtual Machine (version 7 **; minimum: version 6 update 30) installed.
- Unzip the downloaded package.
- Edit the file 'modelsphere.bat' in the root directory of the application to refer to your Java Virtual Machine:
e.g. 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\javaw.exe'.
- Double-click the file 'modelsphere.bat' to launch Open ModelSphere.(Alternatively, you can use the command line from 'modelsphere.bat' to create
a shortcut for launching the application. You can assign the icon 'OpenModelSphere.ico' to the shortcut.)
* Open ModelSphere is not yet Windows-10-certified!
** To avoid any functional restrictions, we do not recommend to use Open ModelSphere 3.2 or higher with Java 8.
If you have not
installed Java 7 and/or already use other applications with Java 8, you can
download Java 7 from Oracle's site here and use it in parallel. Oracle may require you to sign in, however, the download is free of charge.
Open ModelSphere 3.2 or higher on non-Windows operating systems (zip file)
Open ModelSphere is designed to be platform-independent, however, it has been primarily developed and tested on Windows systems. Therefore, we do not provide any particular
installer or any specific instructions for non-Windows environments. You may find advice and comments from 3rd parties on the web how the zip installer package can be adjusted to successfully
implement Open ModelSphere on non-Windows platforms.
First Use
When you launch Open ModelSphere for the first time, go to Tools > Options and select Directories to define
the target directories for your work items. (The default directories may be write-protected by your operating system!)
